Merapi Vocano

Located at Jogjakarta Province and Central Java Province’s border, Merapi is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548 in every 2-5 years. On the last eruption in 2010, surrounding areas which have dense population like Jogjakarta, Magelang, and Boyolali were covered by volcano ash and some of them affected by extremely high temperature smoke. But, Merapi also a blessing for people who live around, due its volcano ash make the soil more fertile and it will be fruitful farmlands. Beside, local people, in creative way, built a museum and arrange a tour called “Lava Tour” to remind people about the virulence of Merapi eruption.
