Ramayana ballet performance invites you to enjoy the story in a set of typical Javanese dance accompanied by gamelan music. This dance-drama is a marvelous visualization of legendary epos in Javanese culture, Ramayana.
Ramayana Ballet is a performance adapted from Kakawin Ramayana, Ramayana story in Java version. It is performed at open-air stage every full moon night from May through October in Prambanan Temple complex. This performance is combined dance and theatrical performance without dialog. This Ramayana story consist of four parts, the abduction of Dewi Shinta, Hanuman on fire, the death of Kumbakarna, and the last part is Rama meet Shinta. Each night performance, one part of story will be performed.
